Like State and Federal Budgets, Local Government annual budgets take into account anticipated works for the ensuing year and the amount of revenue that is required to meet that commitment. Having established the works programme, the Council is unable to approve additional works during the year unless it deletes works of corresponding value that have been approved in the budget.

To meet strict budget preparation deadlines, ratepayers are urged to contact their Councillors before the end of March each year with any requests that they want considered by Council for inclusion in the budget.
