Have your say about Wilson Park Recreation Precinct Master Plan

The Plantagenet community is being encouraged to have their say about the redevelopment of Wilson Park in Mount Barker.

Shire President Chris Pavlovich said the redevelopment of Wilson Park would provide a contemporary, accessible, and inclusive recreational space for residents and visitors alike.

“Wilson Park is currently underutilised, and this redevelopment will transform it into a more engaging recreational precinct for all ages and abilities,” Cr Pavlovich said.

“The community identified enhancing our parks, recreational spaces and youth services and facilities as key priorities earlier this year. Council allocated $150,000 in the 2022-2023 Budget towards developing stage one of the master plan as a youth precinct within Wilson Park.”

Award-winning recreational park designers CONVIC will develop the Draft Wilson Park Recreation Precinct Masterplan, and the public can provide feedback to inform the plan from 5 December.

CONVIC projects include skate parks in Jurien Bay, Mandurah, Onslow, Collie and Esperance, the Margaret River Youth Precinct, South Hedland Youth Space and Fremantle Esplanade Youth Plaza.

Cr Pavlovich said the Council has requested Convic undertake extensive community and stakeholder engagement to ensure the space provides the passive and active recreational speeds and elements for the residents of Plantagenet.

“There will be numerous opportunities for the community to view the draft masterplan, complete a survey, attend workshops and information sessions so we can create a unique community space that reflects the needs of the community,” he said.
