If you don’t have time to browse the bookshelves to choose your next library book, the Mount Barker Public Library has introduced ‘highly recommended’ reads that may help you find your new favourite book.

The ‘highly recommended’ bookmarks are available at the book return chutes for any patron to anonymously place into a book that they have enjoyed.

The library team place these books in the ‘Hot Picks’ section or on other shelf displays for other patrons to consider borrowing.

Some of the titles that have been recently recommended include Honeybee by Craig Silvey, Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and Salonika Burning by Gail Jones.

In other library news, the collection has expanded to include a number of books written in languages other than English. If you speak French, Greek, Russian, Italian or German, there is something for you, with Tagalog and Vietnamese to be added in coming weeks.
