The Shire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Clark as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mr Clark has more than 25 years’ experience in local government, including as CEO, Deputy CEO and Acting CEO at the Shires of Ashburton, Brookton, Chittering, Derby/West Kimberley, Serpentine/Jarrahdale, Ravensthorpe, and the Town of East Fremantle.

Mr Clark owns a consulting business that specializes in governance, financial management, effective community leadership and strategic planning.

Shire President Chris Pavlovich said Mr Clark would take up the leadership role on 3 April, following the departure of outgoing CEO Cameron Woods in March.

“The Council is looking forward to Mr Clark taking the reins while Council undertakes the recruitment process for a permanent CEO,” Mr Pavlovich said.

“The Council is committed to delivering to our community, with several key infrastructure projects including the next stage of the Mount Barker Memorial Swimming Pool redevelopment, the Wilson Park Recreational Precinct redevelopment, and the Pwakkenbak Trails Network progressing over the next 12 months.”

Mr Clark said he was looking forward to joining the Shire and supporting the Council during the transition period.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to spend time in the Shire of Plantagenet and thank the Council for choosing me as the CEO while they recruit,” Mr Clark said.

“I look forward to meeting everyone and hearing about the community priorities.”

“I aim to add some lasting value to the Shire’s work with the community.”
