The Shire Council today announced the appointment of Julian Murphy as Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of Plantagenet.

Mr Murphy brings with him more than 26 years’ experience in local government in Western Australia across the South West, Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions.

He has 21 years’ senior leadership experience, including as the Shire of Katanning CEO since 2015.

Shire President Chris Pavlovich said Mr Murphy would commence in the role on 4 September.

“The Council extends a warm welcome to Mr Murphy,” Mr Pavlovich said.

“He has a long history of steering local governments and seizing opportunities to develop economic growth, and we look forward to him joining the Shire.”

“The Council would like to thank Interim CEO Gary Clark for his work as acting CEO since April.”

Mr Murphy thanked the Council for the opportunity and said he was excited by the possibilities the position would offer.

“Plantagenet is well-placed for the future with its location, natural beauty, strong community, and diverse economic base,” he said.

“I am keen to progress new initiatives as well as deliver strong core services."

“I am looking forward to working with the Council, Shire team and the community to deliver the best possible outcomes for Plantagenet.”
