Have your say on Local Planning Policy #5

Published on Wednesday, 25 June 2025 at 12:00:00 AM

A revised planning policy that aims to remove the need for planning approval for a range of minor development works is being advertised for public comment.

The changes extend 'exemptions' from planning approval for Single Houses, Grouped Dwellings and minor works, such as extensions, carports, patios and site works.

If your project meets the acceptable development standards of the policy, you can go ahead without planning approval. A building permit may still be required (as per national standards). This was previously not the case and is the main intent of the proposed Local Planning Policy.
