Transport and Licensing

The Shire of Plantagenet is an agent for the WA Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure's Transport WA services.

The Administration Centre provides customer service for in-person transactions and enquiries related to Western Australian driver's licence and vehicle registrations during operating hours Monday to Friday 9:00am-4:15pm.

Driver’s licence information

You can renew your Western Australian driver’s licence (including having your photograph taken) at the Administration Centre. Bring your renewal notice and previous driver’s licence with you. Licences are produced in Perth and will be posted to you within 4 weeks.

To apply for a learner's permit, the computerised theory test or hazard perception test can be completed between 9:00am-3:30pm weekdays. Bookings are not required.

Bookings are required for Practical Driving Assessments. These can be made in person at the Administration Centre (bring your learner's permit with you), by calling the Department of Transport on 13 11 56 or via the Department of Transport website. 

Vehicle registrations

Payments for vehicle renewals, transfers and de-registering can be made at the Administration Centre.

Unlicensed vehicles require inspection before registration. The closest inspection point is the Mount Barker Service Centre. Further information about registrations, inspections and temporary movement permits is available here.

Payments for boat registrations and transfers can be made at the Administration Centre, but all other boat-related enquiries should be directed to the Department of Transport by calling 13 11 56. Further information is available here.

Firearms Licence

Payment for the renewal of a Western Australian Firearms Licence can be made via the Western Australia Police BPOINT Portal.
