Important COVID-19 Update

The WA Government COVID-19 Roadmap Phase 2 is here. What does that mean for the library and you?

We are finalising our Safety Plan and continue to prepare the library for re-opening.

Please note that we will not be open Monday 18 May like some businesses and libraries but you can put the below details in your diary:

Library re-open Thursday 28 May at 2.00pm. WELCOME!

The library will be open to the public every Tuesday to Friday, 2.00pm - 4.30pm.

We continue to deliver a 'Select and Collect' service to cater for anyone who has chosen to self-isolate and this service will continue as long as needed. Staff will prepare requests and you can make an appointment to collect your bag between 10.00am and 12.30pm Tuesday to Friday and between 9.00am and 12.00pm Saturday.

No entry to the library will be permitted during Select and Collect times to ensure the safety of people self-isolating.

We will not be opening to the public on Saturday mornings during this phase.

There will be restrictions in place when visiting the library including:

  • Visits limited to 30 minutes (per day)
  • Maximum of 10 people allowed in the library (excluding staff)
  • Social distancing of 1.5m required at all times
  • 4 square metre rule also applies
  • Your visit to the library will be recorded for contact tracing purposes
  • All returns must be returned through the outside chute to allow quarantine management
  • One public computer will be available for use. free WIFI still available
  • We ask that you bring the correct amount of money for PC and printing services to minimise cash handling (no Eftpos)
  • Please maintain healthy hygiene including washing your hands (or using hand sanitiser) and covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. You will asked to use hand sanitiser upon entry to the library
  • Any items touched but not loaned will be quarantined
  • Please do not attend the library if you are unwell

We will continue with quarantine and cleaning procedures that we have undertaken for the past few months. 

The library team is very excited to welcome you back to the library! We really want to stay open and continue providing a valuable service to our community so we thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.

Located at the front of the Community Resource Centre, the Shire's library offers a wide range of materials and services to encourage life-long learning and community resilience. The library also boasts an impressive art display with the Claude Hotchin collection on permanent exhibition.

Membership is free for Great Southern residents.

We also have free WIFI!

Charges apply to computer use, scanning, printing, and photocopying.

Regular Programs

Every Thursday 10am to 12pm: Play in the Park (now at Wilson Park) for pre-schoolers.

Every Friday during school term 10.30am to 12pm: Wriggle, Giggle & Grow for babies and toddlers.

First Wednesday of the month 10.30am to 12pm: Foreign Detective Book Club.

Last Friday of each Month 2.00 to 3.30pm (approx): Armchair Theatre showing free film.

Special Events

Every Friday during school holidays 10.30am to 12pm: Art and craft for school age kids.
