In December 2020, Water Corporation wrote to residents located in and immediately around the Porongurup township to inform them about a change to their drinking water supply from Bolganup Dam to carted water from the Lower Great Southern Towns Water Supply Scheme (LGSTWSS). Customers living outside of the Porongurup township along Porongurup Road will continue to receive Bolganup Dam water, as outlined in their Non-standard Water Service Agreement. Shire of Plantagenet standpipes along Porongurup Road and Albany Highway will continue to receive Bolganup Dam water for irrigation and firefighting.
