Mount Barker Regional Saleyards

Are you looking for a hands-on role in a dynamic rural environment? The Shire of Plantagenet is seeking a motivated General Hand Saleyards to support the safe and efficient operation of the Mount Barker Regional Saleyards.

About the Role

Working as part of a small team, you will assist with the day-to-day operation, cleaning and maintenance of the saleyards, helping to ensure facilities remain safe, functional and well presented.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating the saleyards weighbridge
  • Cleaning and maintaining cattle yards and troughs
  • Undertaking general maintenance tasks
  • Operating plant and equipment as required
  • Supporting the efficient operation of the saleyards
  • Assisting with emergency service activities when required

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • A basic understanding of the cattle industry and rural communities
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a team
  • A commitment to workplace safety
  • A current WA "C" Class Driver's Licence
  • A good level of physical fitness

Previous saleyard experience, plant operation experience, a skid steer ticket, Senior First Aid qualification, or a firearms licence will be highly regarded.

Classification: Level 2 - $32.94 per hour
