The Mount Barker Library and Community Resource Centre is a central hub for information, learning and support.

Located at 1 Lowood Road, the Library and Community Resource Centre provides a range of services including:

  • Connection to information – from local news through to government services
  • Free access to WiFi and public computers
  • Printing, scanning, copying, laminating and binding
  • Digital support 
  • Video conferencing facilities, co-working and study spaces and
  • Meeting room, boardroom and commercial kitchen hire.

Library Services

The Mount Barker Library encourages life-long learning through the provision of books, magazines, newspapers, DVD’s, audio-books and a range of engaging and interactive junior resources.

Membership is free for Great Southern residents, with benefits including:

  • Borrow up to 20 books and 10 DVDs at one time
  • Access to a broad range of Fiction and Non-Fiction titles for all ages
  • A substantial Audiobook and Large Print collection
  • Over a million e-Resources to choose from including eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies and educational programs
  • A Home-Delivery service for people in need and
  • Access to the catalogues from a range of Libraries across the state.

To use e-Resources, you need a library membership card. Visit the library to complete an application form - photo identification and proof of address are required.

Regular programs

The centre hosts a diverse range of programs and activities to support the community.

 

For children and families:

10.30am – 11.30am Story Time and activities for children aged 0-5 years every Wednesday during school term.

3.15pm – 4.15pm Friday Hangout after school program for children aged 6-12 years Friday weekly during school term.

For adults:

10.00am – 12.00pm Tech Help every Tuesday and Thursday

9.00am – 4.00pm Firearms’ License Assistance every Thursday

10.30am – 11.30am Plantagenet Book Club on the first Tuesday of the month

1.30pm – 2.30pm Mount Barker Foreign Detective Book Club on the first Wednesday of the month.

10.30am – 12.30pm Scrabble Club on the third Tuesday of the month.

Special events

The Library and Community Resource Centre offers training programs, workshops, personal development and lifestyle courses on a regular basis.
