On Sunday 22 February, 54 Kendenup community members came together to officially launch the development of the Kendenup Place Plan — a long-term, community-led vision for strengthening and sustaining a thriving township.
A Place Plan is a collaborative roadmap that identifies what matters most to local residents, what the community can achieve together, and where additional support or resources may be needed. The process empowers locals to shape the future of their town through practical, achievable strategies.
Town Team Movement is partnering with the Kendenup community to guide the creation of the Plan.
The first stage began with a community “Walkshop,” where participants travelled to key locations throughout Kendenup to observe, discuss and share ideas. The tour included the Kendenup Hall, the Beverley Road / Hassell Avenue / Carbarup Road intersection, the Skate Park and recreation trail along Hassell Avenue, Emergency Services precinct and the Albany Highway intersection including the TransWA bus pull-in bay.
Residents also explored and discussed other important local features such as the Doc Rowe Reserve, the Primary School, entry statement on Chauvel Road, the Glen Hawker Bulldozer and several other notable community assets.
Town Team Movement is now preparing a community survey to capture the insights raised during the Walkshop and to provide all residents — including those unable to attend — with an opportunity to highlight additional areas of importance. The survey will be widely promoted to ensure broad participation.
Following the survey, Town Team Movement will return to Kendenup to host a workshop where the community will prioritise strategies and finalise the Place Plan.
The Kendenup Place Plan represents an exciting step toward a shared, community-driven future, built on local knowledge, collaboration and pride.
