Planning policy changes reduce red tape

Two planning policy changes adopted by the Council on 26 August following public consultation will reduce red tape for property owners.

Changes to policy guiding the development of sheds and shipping containers have increased opportunities and reduced planning approval requirements.

Changes to a general policy guiding exemptions from planning approval have removed the requirement for approval for many minor development works, particularly for homeowners.

These policy changes reflect the Council’s intention to reduce red tape by easing approval requirements where appropriate to benefit landowners and residents.
