Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades and Emergency Services

Volunteer bush fire brigades are a vital part of community safety in the Shire of Plantagenet. Local volunteers prepare, train and respond as part of an organised emergency-management system.

Plantagenet Brigades

The Shire supports 11 volunteer bush fire brigades. Brigades work with the Shire, DFES and other agencies to respond to bushfires and support prevention, preparedness and community education.

What Volunteers May Do

  • respond to bushfires and support incident operations
  • train in firefighting, safety, communications, vehicles and equipment
  • maintain brigade equipment and facilities
  • take part in exercises and community preparedness activities
  • support mitigation and recovery activities when authorised.

Join a Brigade

Volunteering is a commitment. Members must complete required induction and training, follow lawful directions, use protective equipment and meet the conduct and safety requirements of the brigade and Shire.

Roles may include frontline and support functions, depending on local needs and your capability.

To register your interest, contact the Shire on (08) 9892 1111 or email [email protected] and ask for the Community Emergency Services Manager.

In an Emergency

Do not call a brigade station to report a fire. Call Triple Zero 000 and give the operator clear location information.
