Building Services
Building Services helps property owners, builders and designers understand and apply for building, demolition and occupancy approvals in the Shire of Plantagenet.
Start With Your Project
- Check whether you need Development (Planning) approval, a Building Permit or another approval before you begin.
- Talk to the Shire early if your site is bushfire prone, uses onsite wastewater, needs a new crossover or has environmental, heritage or servicing constraints.
- Use the current application form and checklist. Requirements vary by building class, site and scope.
- Do not start permit-required work until the permit has been granted and you understand every condition.
Popular Building Services
- Building permits for houses, additions, sheds, patios, pools and other work
- demolition permits
- occupancy permits and building approval certificates
- pool and spa safety barrier inspections
- building plans and archive requests
- guidance on unauthorised building work and unsafe buildings
Development (Planning) and Building Approval are Different
Development (Planning) approval considers whether a development is suitable for the land and local planning framework. A building permit considers whether the proposed building work complies with applicable building standards. Some projects need both approvals, and planning approval may need to be obtained first.
