Local Planning Policy No. 8 - Dams & Water Features adopted

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 28 April, the Council adopted a modified version of the proposed Local Planning Policy No. 8 – Dams & Water Features following public advertising and further consideration.

The State Planning Framework stipulates all dams require Development (Planning) Approval. The Shire developed Local Planning Policy No.8 to provide certain parameters for applicants to meet to be exempt from these requirements.

Local Planning Policy No. 8 – Dams & Water Features provides a pathway to reduce the requirement for approval for the majority of dams, establishes clear standards to guide landowners, and provides assessment criteria to help the Shire assess Development (Planning) applications.

This is part of the Shire's suite of changes to reduce red tape where valid and possible.
