Arts and Culture Strategy - Snags & Stories

Friday 5th June 2026

A dedicated workshop for the Aboriginal Community, Plantagenet Snags & Stories will be held as part of the Shire of Plantagenet’s Arts and Culture Strategy.

This session will take the form of a yarning circle, bringing people together over a BBQ at Mount Barker Library and Community Resource Centre. Participants will be invited to share stories and perspectives on Aboriginal culture, heritage, history, and art in a way that feels natural and community-led.

The session will be facilitated by an Aboriginal facilitator creating a culturally safe and supportive environment. The project team will be present to listen and document insights to help inform the broader strategy.

Invitations will be shared through connections with local Elders, following one-on-one conversations to ensure the approach is respectful and inclusive. Aboriginal Elders, residents, and artists are warmly invited to take part, connect with others, and contribute to shaping a future that honours and celebrates Aboriginal culture in Plantagenet.
