Exciting improvements are coming to the O’Neill Road Waste Management Facility.
The Shire has secured a $350,000 grant from the Western Australian Recycling Modernisation Fund (RMF) to install a recycling hub at the facility.
The RMF is a joint Australian and WA Government initiative designed to improve recycling infrastructure and capabilities across the state.
The Mount Barker Recycling Hub will comprise a cardboard compactor, shed, sealed access and internal roads, and other associated improvements.
The Shire hopes a dedicated recycling hub will help reduce current rates of contaminated recycling in transfer station bins and boost the capacity for cardboard collection.
Installation of the Mount Barker Recycling Hub is expected to commence in August or September and be completed by Easter 2027.
