The local government invites comment on the Draft Local Planning Policy No. 4 – Child Care Premises and Family Day Care.
This new Local Planning Policy aims to create a framework and set of guidelines for the development of child care facilities, to provide uniform development of child care premises & family day cares across the Shire’s residential zones. This Policy is part of the Shire aiming to be proactive, noting the high demand and low supply of child care facilities in the Shire, and in conjunction with an upcoming Local Planning Scheme No.5 amendment to increase options available to potential operators. This aims to increase the amount of locally available child care services in the Shire to better support community needs, as our population continues to grow amongst a housing shortage and workers shortage. Increasing supply of these facilities is one part of many efforts and strategies to help assist in sustainable population growth in the Shire.
