Following the Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 March 2025, the Council has released the draft Mount Barker Public Realm Strategy. This strategy aims to create a cohesive framework to enhance the town’s public spaces, making them more functional, enjoyable and accessible for the community and visitors.

The Shire is seeking feedback from the community on the proposed concepts.

The Plantagenet community is invited to provide feedback on the draft Strategic Community Plan (SCP) 2025-2035.

A new planning policy that aims to streamline applications for outbuildings (sheds) is being advertised by the Shire of Plantagenet Council.

The Council’s Streetscaping Working Group held meetings in 2022 to identify and prioritise streetscape amenity improvements in the Mount Barker townsite. As entry roads into the townsite, Langton, Memorial and Lowood Roads were prioritised for review.

The Shire of Plantagenet is seeking feedback from the community on the following proposed streetscape projects.

Public submissions are sought for names to include on the Council’s Future Street Name and Reserves Register.

The local government invites comment on the Draft Local Planning Policy 1 – Ancillary Dwellings (granny flat).

The Strategy sets out a vision for bike riding across the region, with a proposed cycling network and infrastructure in key townsites providing interregional connections.

To help us develop the strategy, we want to know:

• what your local bike riding needs are;
• what issues need to be addressed; and
• what opportunities you see to make riding safer, more enjoyable and convenient.

When complete, the Strategy will be used to guide funding decisions and prioritise key bike riding projects.
