DRAFT: LOCAL PLANNING POLICY NO. 5: SINGLE HOUSE EXEMPTIONS IN NON-RESIDENTIAL ZONES (Closed)

The local government invites comment on the Draft Local Planning Policy No. 5 – Single House Exemptions in Non-Residential Zones.

This new Local Planning Policy is part of the Shire’s effort to reduce red tape, especially around new housing developments to better assist in the currently noted housing crisis. The policy aims to create a consistent and uniform set of guidelines for the development of Single Houses in non-residential zones across the Shire. The erection or extension of a Single House in the Rural, Rural Residential, Rural Smallholdings, Rural Village, Special Use Zones will be exempt from requiring Development (Planning) Approval if compliance with the policy is achieved (this does not negate the requirement for a Building Permit approval). The Shire invites you to comment on the new policy.

The Policy is available for inspection at the Shire of Plantagenet office, 22-24 Lowood Road, Mount Barker or through the Documents link on this page.

Written submissions are due by 1 November 2023 and can be handed into the Shire office during business hours or emailed to [email protected].
