Have your say on Local Planning Policy 2 - Tourist Development (Closed)

A new planning policy that aims to help open up new options for tourism developments is being advertised by the Shire of Plantagenet Council.

Town Planning Policy No. 14, which was adopted in 2006, requires updating with changes in the tourism market such as Hipcamp, Airbnb and others alike and to better meet market needs.

DRAFT Local Planning Policy 2 – Tourist Development aims to align the Shire with other WA local governments, state planning policies, and meet this market demand by improving options for tourism development in the region, with the main goal to attract more tourists to the region.

The Shire invites you to provide comment on the draft policy. Feedback and comments can be submitted in writing to the Shire of Plantagenet, PO Box 48, Mount Barker, WA, 6324 or via email to [email protected].

Submissions close 4.00pm Thursday 18 May 2023.

The results of the community consultation will then be presented to the Council for review and decision.
